I’ve spent enough time in Los Angeles to appreciate a little luxury in my life. So when I was in the market for a new robe and heard that Parachute has a reputation for that LA lounge vibe, the choice was easy.
Since winter was barreling toward me and my bathroom is in the coldest spot of my house, I opted for their Classic Turkish Cotton Robe because it seemed to be the heaviest option (if that’s not what you’re looking for, Parachute carries a variety of casual and stylish robes in other weights).
Here’s how it went!
My Experience With a Parachute Robe
Right out of the box, I liked that Parachute used neutral, minimalistic packaging. No glittery branding on the outside, no extra fluff inside the box… just a simple package and presentation.
The robe was folded neatly inside a thin plastic bag, so there wasn’t a lot of waste to throw away. But immediately after taking it out, I knew this robe was going to be a favorite for lounging around the house.
The robe was clean and fresh, but I recommend doing one wash and dry cycle for a couple of reasons. First, it puts your familiar laundry scent all over it (so it instantly feels more like home), and second, it makes the material even softer than it was when it arrived.
Once it got out of the dryer, I put it on right away… and was immediately surprised at just how heavy this robe is. It’s easily the heaviest I’ve ever owned, weighing about five pounds (though it feels like ten).
The plush material is so soft and absorbent that you could get straight out of the shower, skip the towel, and jump right into the robe. It feels like you’re wearing a blanket made from towels, so if you’re prone to being chilly, especially during the colder months, this is going to be your new bestie.
I kind of imagine this robe to be something you might find at a high-end spa or hotel. It’s so effortlessly luxe and cozy, feeling lived-in right away, even when it’s brand new. The material is super thick with a looped terry texture that gives it real presence, and it simply feels… indulgent. That’s the word I think best describes it.
It’s generous without swallowing you, and the cut is still flattering even with the hefty weight of it against your body. It makes you feel like you have your life together (whether or not you actually do).
I’m fairly large-chested (47”), so I opted to get the XL, and it fits like a glove. The belt stays tied well, and I especially love the deep pockets on the front. I can carry my phone in them, and it won’t ever fall out unless I start doing cartwheels. Anything else I want to keep nearby (lip balm, cough drops, earbuds) it all fits snugly inside.
This was a huge selling point for me. My old robe didn’t have pockets at all, and until I started wearing my Parachute robe, I hadn’t realized just how much I missed having them. It’s especially handy because I’m someone who spends a lot of time wearing a robe in the house (even over my normal day clothes) to keep the chill away — I’m even wearing it as I write this!
It’s perfect for slow weekend mornings, post-shower routines, or curling up on the couch with hot tea and a book (one of my favorite pastimes). And despite it being a robe, you could easily walk outside to grab the mail or water your porch plants and still look like someone who has impeccable taste.
And the quality… this is a robe that’s in it for the long haul. It isn’t something you’re going to need to replace every year because the material, stitching, and design are all built to last.
In my opinion, the style is timeless: effortlessly classic and modern. But it’s also not for everyone. I love the Dusk color I chose (a grey-blue that leans in either direction based on the lighting), but every other available shade is just as neutral and muted.
That’s perhaps the biggest drawback. If you’re a fan of vibrant colors or patterns, you won’t find any of those here, barring a selection of striped robes. Parachute’s vibe is much more understated, limited to neutrals and muted earth tones.
The other sticking point is the price. All of their robes cost more than $100 when not on sale or clearance. But there’s something to be said for spending a little more on quality that’s going to last for years. You might get a great deal on an inexpensive robe at Walmart or Target, but you’re going to have to replace it long before your Parachute robe shows the first sign of wear.
Pros
- Quality construction that’s built to last, even if you wear it every single day (like I do).
- Timeless aesthetic that really nails the signature coastal vibe, no matter how far away you live from the nearest ocean.
- Soft, absorbent material that feels like a hug against your skin — and it only gets softer and more lived-in over time.
- Variety of weights and plushness to choose from, whether you prefer something lightweight and thin or thick and heavy.
- Deep pockets, no matter which robe you choose; some are square and placed on the front, while others are hidden on the side (at hip level).
- Heavier terry varieties that double as a post-shower towel, if you like.
- Flattering cuts that provide plenty of coverage without looking bulky.
Cons
- Because the vibe is minimalist, understated luxury, you won’t find bright, bold colors or jazzy prints in any of Parachute’s robes (aside from stripes).
- The price point is a bit high, with all of their robes being more than $100 when not on sale or clearance.
- Some robes fit more snugly, so if you’re looking for an oversized fit, I recommend sizing up.

My Takeaways
A Parachute robe is an investment piece, to be sure, but I like to think of it as comforting self-care. If you’ve ever wanted to bring a touch of the Los Angeles lifestyle to your daily routine, it hits that mark every time.
I love my Classic Turkish Cotton Robe this fall and winter, but I’ve got my eye on the Hooded Light Terry or Waffle Robe for next year’s warmer months. Whichever I go with, I can’t wait to try it on!
