Top Boll & Branch Alternatives

Top Boll & Branch Alternatives
Latest posts by Stephany Montero (see all)

When I bought my first set of Boll & Branch sheets, it was to accompany a branch new king bed and my transition into “luxury” and adulthood.

While they were soft, to be sure, they were also thin and flabby. I was surprised that they were outperformed by the Thomas Lee sheets I had for my guest room, and almost by the Target brand I had before adulthood.

So when the first strains and holes appeared, it was time to shop for some top Boll & Branch alternatives.

I compared:

  1. Parachute
  2. Thomas Lee
  3. Brooklinen
  4. Silk and Snow
  5. Target

Parachute is my top pick when it comes to Boll & Branch alts because it is comparable in almost all areas but simply gets better reviews, has more durable and comfortable designs, and doesn’t add the cost of unnecessary and frivolous packaging to your bill.

That said, there might be other reasons why you are trying to find Boll & Branch alternatives, in which case, you can get a lot of good deals with other companies, too.

My Parameters

Boll & Branch Alternatives

When checking into good alternatives, I looked at:

  1. Price: You never know when you might want to save money on sheets (especially for little ones, or guests who never come)
  2. Color/print: I like to change up the paint now and again, and know that I can get matching sheets
  3. Material: Part of the “luxury” of adulthood is being able to invest in a material you need most, whether that is something breathable for a humid area, flannel for a cold winter, or cotton for comfort
  4. Size: Nothing more frustrating than having a small bed for which you need matching sheets, or even a Cali King, and not finding the right size; I prefer to know what sizes are in stock for all future purchases

Parachute

Boll & Branch seemed like a great investment at first because who doesn’t like soft sheets? But I was surprised at how thin they were. I want to know that I have my sheets on, and I want to feel that comfort and support throughout the night.

With Parachute, I was surprised at how soft this alternative was. They have a lot of different materials, and some of them are unique among luxury brands, but the cotton sets, ideal for exceptional coziness, have a very soft, buttery finish.

It honestly felt like I was sleeping in my softest shirt from college that I’ve broken in to the ultimate coziness (and, at this point, the ultimate number of holes and stains).

The linen set is ideal for people who like that little bit of texture, soft and durable, but very breathable. I’ve had linen sheets before, and they had a bit of a starchy feel to them at first, but they get softer with time, and they are significantly more durable.

What I like most about this brand is the sustainability behind the name, so you know that the design is not only thoughtful but made from high-quality fabric with sustainable manufacturing practices, and that is a big part of what you are paying for.

Best for:

Anyone who wants a complete comparative alternative with thicker, more long-lasting sheets.

Average Cost:

  • Between $250 and $355

Materials:

  • Percale
  • Linen
  • Brushed cotton
  • Sateen
  • Heirloom tencel linen

Colors:

  • Solid prints
  • Stripe prints

Sizes:

  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • Cali King

Thomas Lee

Thomas Lee is a highly comparable option when looking for top Boll & Branch alternatives. One of the things I discovered about the price behind Boll & Branch was that most of it went into the packaging.

Don’t get me wrong, I love durable packaging, but the box itself doesn’t also have to be part of the gift; I’d rather pay for a good quality set of sheets than for a lot of frills when opening the box.

Thomas Lee doesn’t have that problem. You are paying mostly for the quality and the production, and less so for the packaging.

That said, they are very limited in terms of the material (you only get two choices) and the colors (you only get solid prints). They also don’t make sheets for twin or twin XL, so if you have smaller beds, you won’t find options here.

However, Thomas Lee is one of the only luxury brands that manufactures bamboo sheets. I love bamboo sheets for their moisture-wicking capabilities and the fact that they are hypoallergenic, which means they not only keep you comfortable throughout the night but they are resistant to bacteria and dust mites.

So if you live in an area with a lot of heat or a lot of humidity, this can help wick moisture throughout the year, keeping air circulating much more freely compared to other materials.

If you have sensitive skin or allergies, bamboo fibers like those from Thomas Lee are resistant to dust mites and bacteria, so they are a better investment.

Best for:

Anyone who wants alternatives that are more hypoallergenic and ideal for people with skin sensitivities.

Average Cost:

  • Between $250 and $295

Materials:

  • Cotton percale
  • Bamboo

Colors:

  • Solid prints

Sizes:

  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • Cali King

Brooklinen

Brooklinen is one of the more popular Boll & Branch alts. They have a wide assortment of materials, and they are one of the only companies that offer luxury brushed flannel or heathered cashmere sheets.

If you’ve never lived anywhere that could potentially snow you in for the winter, you might not understand why brushed flannel sheets are so important, but if you do have harsh winters, Brooklinen might be a good alternative, at least for a few months out of the year.

Moreover, Brooklinen, though comparable to Thomas Lee or Parachute, has significantly more colors and prints, including things like shell prints, bundle prints featuring two colors, and striped prints.

Best for:

People who want a wider range of print designs and colors in their sheets.

Average Cost:

  • Between $130 and $255

Materials:

  • Sateen
  • Classic percale
  • Washed European linen
  • Organic cotton
  • Heathered cashmere
  • Brushed flannel

Colors:

  • Shell prints
  • Solid prints
  • Stripe prints
  • Bundle prints

Sizes:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • Cali King

Silk and Snow

Silk and Snow is somewhere in between luxury brands and generic Target brands. The company has several colors and a few different materials, and they stand out with things like the waffle sheet set and the muslin sheet set.

The waffle sheet set, in my opinion, is comparable to the delightful flannel that you can find from Brooklinen; perfect for colder temperatures or if you like to keep a cool bedroom while you sleep. There is a lot of texture there, but it’s still very soft.

The company, like Parachute, has similar certifications and produces their long staple Egyptian cotton sheets in Portugal.

Best for:

People who want a much more affordable alternative to Boll & Branch.

Average Cost:

  • Between $115 and $140

Materials:

  • Percale cotton
  • Egyptian cotton
  • Flax linen
  • Muslin
  • Waffle
  • Silk

Colors:

  • Solid prints

Sizes:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • Cali King

Target Threshold

This brings me to Target

You can knock Target all you want, but they have an in-house brand of sheets that works just fine in almost all situations.

Now, you certainly won’t get the same type of sustainability, and these sheets will not have been handcrafted by artisans in Portugal. However, they do have a wide range of colors and sizes in basic, soft cotton that can get the job done.

Best for:

People who want comfortable alternatives without any of the frill, sustainability, or luxury brand reputation.

Average Cost:

  • Between $35-$50

Materials:

  • Cotton

Colors:

  • Solid prints
  • Stripe prints

Sizes:

  • Twin
  • Twin XL
  • Full
  • Queen
  • King
  • Cali King

Summing Up

There are a lot of great Boll & Branch alternatives on the market, but for me, if you are looking for something that is completely comparable with more durable designs and softer material, Parachute is it.

Now, if you are looking for an alternative that has different materials, go with Thomas Lee; or different colors, go with Brooklinen.

If your goal is to save money, Silk and Snow or Target brands can be a top alternative.

  • Parachute: Better for those who want high-quality fabric without the same Boll & Branch cost
  • Thomas Lee: Better for those who want bamboo sheets for skin sensitivities or allergies.
  • Brooklinen: Better for those who want different colors, sizes, and prints.
  • Silk and Snow: Better for people who want luxury-adjacent alts without the price tag.

Target: Better for a tight budget (or the room your MIL is moving into).
