Best Sheets for Night Sweats

Best Sheets for Night Sweats
Latest posts by Sleep Solutions HQ Team (see all)

Studies have shown that up to 41% of adults struggle with night sweats. These come from:

  • Menopause
  • Stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Medication
  • Sleep disorders

Most of the time, they are medically harmless, but for those of us in our 40s and 50s, they can be highly disruptive.

So I set off to look for the best sheets for night sweats, and here’s what I found:

Theraluxe by TempurPedic

The Theraluxe sheets are manufactured in India. The blend of cotton and polyester cooling fibers are processed and tailored in India. While crafted, these sheets offer very reliable cooling properties through a polyester filament used in the polyester and cotton blend. This means the fiber actively wicks moisture away from the body to keep your body more comfortable while you sleep. The blend is intended to be quick drying, too, so as it wicks, it keeps your body cool and dry instead of damp.

Cotton is one of the most affordable fabrics you can choose when looking for the best sheets for night sweats. Cotton is very soft and usually gets softer with each wash. It’s also less likely to trigger any allergies or cause skin irritation compared to synthetic materials. You can easily toss these in the machine to wash and dry without damaging their structural integrity, and they are quite affordable. Who can’t find an extra 70 bucks for a one-time purchase for quality sheets?

Eucalypso Classic Sheet Set

Eucalypso sources their raw material (the eucalyptus wood pulp) from sustainably managed forests in Austria. This raw material is milled into their proprietary TENCEL Lyocell fibers, which get tailored, packaged, and distributed from China or Pakistan.

Eucalypso Classic Sheet Set

The cooling properties of this sheet set stem from the natural structure of the eucalyptus fibers and the proprietary “dreamweave” that the company uses. The fibers have a smooth surface area, and that smooth surface area reduces friction, leaving the sheets physically cool to the touch.

Eucalyptus is also 70% more efficient than cotton at absorbing moisture, so it can help to absorb moisture from the surface of the fabric and evaporate that moisture to prevent night sweats. The physical structure of the fiber promotes good air flow to also prevent heat from being trapped against your body.

Eucalyptus might be twice the cost of cotton sheets, but it’s also considered much more eco-friendly and sustainable because it uses significantly less water compared to conventional cotton. It also relies on a closed-loop system, so nearly all the water that’s used in the production of eucalyptus sheets like these gets recycled and can be reused. Eucalyptus sheets are naturally hypoallergenic, and they are resistant to bacteria, mold, and dust mites, so they are something to consider if you have skin conditions like eczema, if you have allergies, or asthma.

Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set

Cozy Earth manufactures bamboo sheet sets, which are grown in China under USDA organic-certified conditions. Once harvested, the raw material is processed into fabric and tailored into sheets in China as well.

Cozy Earth Bamboo Sheet Set

The bamboo fibers of this particular sheet set contain tiny pores and micro gaps, which effectively create a ventilation system that prevents heat from getting trapped against your body. It also helps promote regular body temperatures throughout the night by wicking sweat away.

One of the main drivers behind this particular product line is the fact that they use natural bamboo fibers and don’t utilize any chemical finishes to try and produce any cooling technology.

Bamboo sheets are exceptionally soft, in my mind, a blend of silk and cashmere. The fibers are naturally smooth and round, so it feels much softer on the skin. It, like eucalyptus, is resistant to mold, mildew, and dust mites, so it is a good choice for anyone with allergies and night sweats.

Main Features

  • 100% Viscose from Bamboo
  • Temperature regulation

Luxome Sheet Set

Luxome sheets are all manufactured in China. The bamboo that they use for their viscose fabric is grown in Southeast Asia and woven into fabric in China before the final sheet sets get shipped to customers. The designs and testing are done in the US, but when you order a sheet set, it comes from China.

Luxome Sheet Set

As this sheet is made from bamboo, the fibers are described as hollow, with micro gaps in them to allow better breathability. This means that sweat gets moved off your body to the surface of the fabric much faster, and from there it evaporates quickly.

The company uses an industry-leading 400 thread count, combined with their sateen weave, both of which contribute to the smooth feel and the cool-to-the-touch fabric design. And like eucalyptus, it is a highly renewable resource; it grows very quickly, doesn’t need a lot of water, and doesn’t require pesticides to thrive, so it is a much more environmentally friendly option compared to conventional cotton sheets.

Brooklinen Cooling Cotton Percale

Brooklinen is similar to the cotton from the TheraLuxe brand. Brooklinen’s classic cooling sheets are made in India. The fibers are sourced and manufactured in India, but all products comply with the OEKO-TEX certification, indicating that no harmful chemicals were used during the manufacturing process.

Brooklinen Cooling Cotton Percale

The cooling technology that helps prevent night sweats comes from a combination of the long staple cotton fiber and the percale weave, hence the name. The weave is a one-yarn-over and one-yarn-under structure, which creates better breathability and a lightweight feel compared to a denser sateen, like what you get from Luxome.

Combined with this is the long staple cotton, which has very fine but durable threads that enhance breathability and maintain long-term performance.

Quince works with manufacturers around the world, sourcing materials for the organic bamboo sheets from various locations. They don’t indicate where exactly, other than the manufacturing part of the production takes place in China and Cambodia, but they maintain OEKO-TEX certification to ensure products are free from harmful chemicals.

Eight Sleep

Eight Sleep’s blankets and other technology components, like the cover and hub, are manufactured in China, but the foam mattresses are manufactured in the United States. This is one of the most advanced and therefore best sheets for night sweats because it does not rely on traditional cooling fibers like bamboo, eucalyptus, or cotton.

Eight Sleep

Instead, Eight Sleep uses a proprietary, active, hydropowered temperature regulation system. Traditional sheets like the cotton, bamboo, or eucalyptus above are all considered a passive solution, meaning they help manage heat in a passive way, feeling cool to the touch and helping to wick your sweat, but not actively changing the temperature of your bed or your sheets.

Eight Sleep is the exact opposite. It’s an active cooling system with a cover and optional blanket that use a network of thin tubes embedded within the cover. It connects to an external hub which contains a reservoir that actively heats or cools the water to precise temperatures between 110° F and 55° F. Using the smart autopilot feature, clinical grade sensors actually track your key biometrics like your skin temperature, breathing, and heart rate, automatically adjusting the temperature in your bed throughout the night to an ideal degree for your circadian rhythm.

This temperature-controlled water system gets pumped silently through the tubing network, and the Dual Zone controls mean that you and your partner can have a separate setting on either side of the bed.

Summing Up

Overall, there are a lot of great sheets out there to manage night sweats. You can find inexpensive cotton options that offer natural breathability, as well as more advanced eucalyptus or bamboo for enhanced moisture wicking.
However, while all of these are going to be suitable, inexpensive options, they are all passive cooling systems; these sheets can’t actually lower or control the temperature in your bed. The Eight Sleep system is an active cooling system, with sheets, blankets, and a connected hub to monitor your skin temperature and adjust accordingly throughout the night.
